Class is the hardness of metric bolts, similar to grade (grade 2, 5 or 8) that is used for standard bolts. Class 10.9 is often considered the metric grade 8 equivalent. Bolt lengths 30 mm to 45 mm are threads the full length below the head. Bolt lengths 50 mm to 100 mm have an unthreaded portion before the threads start.
